A Report on Spoken Tutorial on ADVANCED C++

PACE, Mangalore. Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized a two day Spoken Tutorial workshop on ADVANCED C++. PACE is a RESOURCE centre of Spoken Tutorial.  The Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the Talk to a Teacher activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. The Spoken Tutorial initiative is developed by IIT Bombay.

 

The objective of this event is to enable the students of computer science and engineering with the advanced concept of programming with C++ using audio-video demonstration and practical experimentations. This workshop will help support students to acquire a command on state-of-the-art Object Oriented Programming paradigm which will be helpful for their placement activities. This event will also fulfil the requirement of bridge course as recommended by the VTU, Belagavi.

The Inauguration of the workshop held at 09:30 AM, function was presided by our honourable principal Dr. Abdul Sharief, he emphasised on imparting such training to non IT branches, Vice-principal Dr.  Ramis M.K noted that as India is moving towards cashless economy, it brings a golden opportunity for CS students to contribute using programming in nation building to fulfil digitalization. Other dignitaries present on the occasion are, Dean (Student affair) Dr. Antony A.J., Director (Academics) Prof. Surfaraz Hasim J, Dean (Research) Dr. Zahid Ansari, HOD (CSE) Dr. Sharmila Kumari and SPoC Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay Prof. Ahmed Rimaz Faizabadi. Department Magazine was also released on this occasion by Dr. Abdul Sharief. The staff co-ordinators for the workshop are Prof. Tanvir H. Sardar and Prof. Abdul Majeed K.M of Dept. of CSE. All the faculty members and all students of 4th semester CSE were present.

 

 The key-note was delivered by Prof. Ahmed Rimaz Faizabadi; he precisely describes the importance of Object Oriented Programming using C++ and called the student for applying the knowledge leveraged to build quality software.  The spoken tutorials on C and basic C++ were conducted with hands on, it is found that student shown enthusiasm and active role in the entire workshop and solved the assignments, and feedback was overwhelming. Then ADVANCED C++ workshop was conducted on 3rd Feb. The Dean (Research) Dr. Zahid Ansari distributed the certificate of appreciation to co-ordinators. The concluding remarks were made by Prof. Ahmed Rimaz; by giving an overall idea of object oriented system design and use of C++, for students to carry forward the learning of this workshop and flourish in their careers.
