SPARK: Career and Challenges in Civil Industry (IT focus)

A workshop entitled “SPARK: Career and Challenges in Civil Industry: (IT focus)”  for Civil Engineers was conducted by Dr. Zahid Ansari, Dean (Research), P.A. College of Engineering on 28/03/2017, to motivate the pre-final year students of Civil Engineering department, to sharpen their programming skills to excel in the civil industry. The major objectives of the program were to enable the students to identify the importance of learning programming and the required tools efficiently.

 In this workshop, Prof. Tanvir Habib Sardar presented a systematic approach to plan their career in civil industry as freshmen by using programming. He emphasised on importance of programming in civil engineering fields like Structure Analysis, Building Information Modelling, and Surveying etc. He also briefed on popular civil application software tools used in civil engineering. To refresh civil engineering students with programming, basic programming methodology is explained and simple programming puzzles are assigned and solved.

Professor and Dean (Research) Dr. Zahid Ansari addressed the students to come forward and utilize the opportunities and infrastructural support offered by PACE to hone their professional profile with niche of programming skills. Professor and HOD Civil, Dr. Palakshappa K. motivated students towards programming stating his experiences in programming field and directed them towards programming based skill development.  The program was conducted at 11:00 AM., in multipurpose hall with full attendance of the 6th Semester Civil students, and coordinated by Prof. Vijay H.
