Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation (CERI @ PACE) Logo Release
P. A. College of Engineering, Mangalore is establishing a Center of Excellence for Research and Innovation (CERI @ PACE) to augment the quality of interaction between the industry and academia in the region. The logo of CERI was released by the Executive Director PAET, Mr. P. A. Abdullah. The Principal Dr. Abdul Sharief, Dr. Ramis M.K Vice Principal, Prof. Surfraz Hasim Director (Academics) , Prof. Zahid Ansari Dean (Research) and HODs of various Departments were present during the function.
CERI will be a platform for experimenting new ideas and translating them into useful research findings. It will also cater the growing needs of research fraternity and help the students to go an extra mile to learn beyond academic curriculum and be industry and future ready. At Present four labs namely High Performance Computing Lab, Nano Biomaterials Lab, Robotics and Automation Lab, Micro and Minichannels Lab and Computational Fluid Mechanics Lab will be established under the financial support of AICTE, and VGST Karnataka. Dr. Zahid Ansari (Professor Computer Science), Dr Ramis M K (Vice Principal) and Dr Khalid (Asst. Professor Biotechnology) have received a grant of about rupees half a crore for the research activities from the above agencies. Also an International Workshop on Research Writing and Publishing will be organized by CERI on September 1,2 and 3 for the upcoming young researchers. Speakers from foreign universities are expected for the program.
Executive Director Mr. P. A. Abdullah emphasized the importance of CERI and its relation with the upliftment of the society, students and nation. Dr. Abdul Sharief motivated the students for learning interdisciplinary skills and focused particularly on learning programming languages for non-CS branches. This talk was continued by Prof. Surfraz Hashim in which he told about the inner powers and capabilities hidden among ourselves and how it can be used for Research and Innovations. Dr. Ramis M. K, gave thinking thoughts for CERI @ PACE and put light on importance of interdisciplinary research. Dr. Zahid Ansari delivered a very attractive talk on objectives of CERI and explained the importance of each letter of CERI in the logo.
