Centre for Professional & Organizational Development (CPOD) at PA College of Engineering organized one day faculty development program on "Understanding and Dealing with Adolescents". Mrs. Lugina Miranda - Counselor, Psychotherapist and Course Coordinator at St Agnes College PG Centre was the resource person.
Mrs. Lugina Marinda educated the gathering about why students feel depressed and advised to learn &read the symptoms and also cautioned the faculty about "Dont Do" list while managing them. The talk was rightly stressed upon respect, acceptance, empathy, non judgmental, confidentiality and support building for our students while counseling them. She emphasized that everybody in the teaching community should undergo training in counseling for the betterment of student community as there are a lot of stress factors in todays life.
All the faculty members showed great enthusiasm throughout and solved the case studies actively. This program enabled the faculty members to develop competence in understanding the stressors, problems and its symptoms in students lives. It enhanced the counseling and mentoring skill of the faculty members at PACE.
Dr. Abdul Sharief, Principal of PAC inaugurated the Program. Prof. Surfaraz Hasim (Director Academics) gave the introductory remarks. Dr. Beeran Moideen (Director, MBA) and Dr. Abdul Rahman (SWO) were present on dias. Prof. Ibrahim Kitoor welcomed the gathering and Prof. Mohan K. P. expressed the vote of thanks.
